CREATING WITH PURPOSE.
Hi, I’m Cíntia Fernandes, born and raised in Coimbra, Portugal. Currently I’m a Multimedia Communication and Design student with a passion for visual storytelling, creativity, and thoughtful design. I’m interested in exploring the intersection of design and marketing, from branding and editorial design to photography and digital communication. Curious by nature, I’m always looking for new perspectives, inspiration, and opportunities to learn, grow, and turn ideas into meaningful visual experiences.
Every project begins with research, observation, and a clear understanding of its purpose. I explore different ideas, experiment with visual elements, and refine each detail until the concept feels coherent. I believe that good design is not only about aesthetics, but also about communication, intention, and creating meaningful connections.

No.1 Segunda Casca
— A Second Life for Fruit Peels
“Segunda Casca” is a self-initiated branding project for a conceptual soap brand that gives fruit peels a second life. Inspired by Madeira bananas, figs and Algarve oranges, I developed a visual identity combining elegant serif typography, a delicate peel illustration and a colour palette drawn from the fruits. Through packaging, wrapping paper, brand cards and posters, the project explores how design can connect everyday care with Portuguese identity and the creative reuse of materials.

— A Second Life For Your Clothes
Adobe Illustrator
As part of our Digital Marketing class, we explored branding, storytelling, and digital marketing strategies to create a brand with its own identity and purpose. More than just a fashion concept, this project was about embracing sustainability, finding beauty in forgotten materials, and giving old fabrics a new story to tell.
No.3 The Green Fairy
Adobe Illustrator
This branding project holds a special place in my heart, as it was created for my sister’s homemade vegan food brand. I had the opportunity to bring her vision to life by designing the logo, developing the visual identity, and creating the brand’s Instagram presence. My goal was to capture the warmth, authenticity, and care behind her creations, translating her passion for food into a visual language that feels both personal and inviting. More than just a design project, it was a chance to turn something meaningful to both of us into a brand with its own personality and story.

No.1 Birthday Magazine
Adobe Illustrator
This project was born from the desire to create something truly personal for my sister’s birthday. I designed an entire magazine from scratch, bringing together photographs of her, meaningful words, and memories that tell her story. Through editorial design, I explored how images, typography, and storytelling can come together to create something both intimate and unique. More than just a magazine, it became a celebration of who she is, the moments we share, and the love behind every page.
No.2 TAGV’S Cultural Agenda
Adobe InDesign
As part of our Editorial Design class, I developed a cultural agenda for the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente (TAGV) in Coimbra. Through this project, I explored the relationship between typography, layout, and visual storytelling, creating an editorial piece that reflects the artistic and cultural identity of the theatre. My goal was to transform information into an engaging visual experience, where design becomes a way of connecting people with art, culture, and creativity.
No.3 Helvetica
Adobe Illustrator
As part of my Typography class, I designed a flyer dedicated to Helvetica, one of the most iconic typefaces in graphic design. Through this project, I explored the beauty of simplicity, balance, and visual clarity, using typography as both the subject and the main design element. My goal was to create a clean and engaging composition that reflects Helvetica’s timeless character, showing how even the simplest typeface can have a strong visual impact.

No.1 Do Not FOMO
Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
Through this photography project, I wanted to capture the beauty and emotion behind a simple smile. Photographing elderly people in a nursing home allowed me to explore genuine moments of happiness, tenderness, and connection. Each portrait tells a story, revealing the emotions and individuality that make every person unique. Through my lens, I sought to celebrate the small moments that often go unnoticed and to remind us of the warmth, humanity, and beauty that a smile can hold.
No.2 Urban Expressions
Adobe Illustrator
As part of my Typography class, I created a street-inspired poster using photographs, graffiti, lettering, and visual elements found in the streets of Coimbra. Through bold contrasts, experimental typography, and layered compositions, I explored the raw and expressive side of urban design. My goal was to capture the energy, spontaneity, and personality of the city, transforming everyday street details into a bold visual statement that reflects Coimbra’s urban identity.
